These four brave men maneuvered a wheelchair laden with my dog, Starla, and I, down the precarious slope to our waiting launch, and being piped aboard without undue incident, we set sail for an adventureous voyage on beautiful Lake Whitney, Texas. The highlight of the day was marked by the annual fishing derby cohosted by American Legion posts #522, Whitney, and #361, Waco, honoring Central Texas blind and hospitalized veterans. Not many fish were caught that day but, nevertheless, all present were treated to all the fish & fixin’s they could eat. Remeniscent of the miracle of the five loaves & two fish, “They all ate and were satisfied.” Although twelve baskets full of broken pieces could not be found when the crowds abated; nonetheless, all came away with new appreciation of the fisherman’s providence . Many thanks!
