The Scribe of Plum Grove has taken leave of his post and left the charge of reciting what scant epics of communication that could be turned up to the none too enthusiastic Num Skull.
Between the illnesses that have overcome the towns Dr. and Rev. -which comes across as an altogether deadly double combination for an isolated burg that boasted a scant handful of inhabitants; he finds hope, however, that two new MD’s are now available for the afflicted dwellers.

PLUM GROVE ITEMS OCTOBER 4, 1878
Ed Gazette-it becomes my duty to chronicle the passing events as they occur in this thriving little burg. –” A STAR CUSS” and lady have gone to Illinois to visit friends.–Jas. M. Tucker runs the Grove in their absence.–Henry Bickness is putting up a new business house in town.–Dr. I. V. Davis is sick of a fever but is slowly recovering. –Rev. Cain and his wife are sick. Two new MD’s located in the Grove. –Dr. Davis intends to retire from the profession.–Mr. Bateman of Iowa has purchased the N.W.1/4 Section 25, township 23, range 3 east; he is building on the same.–Another lot of emigrants expected daily; let them come, there is room for more. –Please Send us a good shower, our wheat needs it very badly. –Please excuse this disjointed article as news is very scarce.
