Out of the chasm of one of the seven natural wonders of the world comes an incredible tale of discovery that adds a new dimension to the word “wonder.” From the venerable pages of the Peach Springs Champion comes news of the discovery of evidence that a monster human race once inhabited the Grand Barranca.

Messrs. Spencer and Ridenour, who returned from their rich copper discoveries on Thursday last, have told us of a discovery they made when in the Grand cañon. In the basin of the cañon, which was once a sand bed, and probably thousands of years ago a broad, level plain (but the narrow passageway is now hemmed in by walls 118 feet high) they came upon an imprint in the sand rock denoting a bare foot, with toes, instep, and heel as plain and unmistakable as the orb of day. It measures twenty-six inches in length and twelve in width.

The average depth of the imprint is four inches, while at the ball of the foot, it is six inches. Thee imprints appear along the edge of the narrow passageway for some distance, and they are distinctly and evenly eighteen feet apart, showing the vast range the monster with the human foot could make at a single step. The men had only three pack mules and prospecting tools with them, or they would have taken out the rock containing the foot imprint, but it is their intention to return to perform the work and bring these pieces of evidence of a monster human race to the public gaze.
