EDITOR GAZETTE:
On account of so many horses being stolen throughout the country, the citizens or Plum Grove and vicinity met last Saturday evening to organize themselves into a Protective Society; after appointing a committee to draft constitution and by-laws, the meeting adjourned until next Saturday evening.
☞The “Mock Legislature” meets every two weeks; last Saturday evening, the house was filled, and the bills brought up and passed were such as would be very beneficial to the State.
☞ Plum Grove will celebrate the 4th in the grand old style; Prof. Hoss, of Indianapolis, and Rev. Budd will address the people; an invitation is extended to neighboring towns to unite with us.
☞ On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the showers put the farmers all in the best of humor; the prospect for a large crop of corn was never better at this season of the year; the oat crop will be short in this vicinity.
☞James Tucker, of Burrton, was visiting old friends in town this week.
☞Another Nation made happy last week, by a treaty made with Miss Martha Fowler, the contract was signed by Judge Black, and very imposing ceremony by Rev. Martin.
