We like to look upward. We start as children, looking up to men and women, our mother and father, who do extraordinary things on grass and turf, hardwood and ice, chessboards, and battlefields. This act of looking up to others for inspiration is a powerful motivator. As we get older, we shift our focus from “looking up” to looking around to those who do amazing things in classrooms, churches, board rooms, laboratories, legislatures… to those who speak, create, and negotiate, to those who research, discover, and write.

My fun-size dog” looks up” to me, literally. Both canines and masters have a mutually beneficial role to play, yearning for someone to rely on in assurance that their abundant necessities in life are met. This mutual reliance is a key factor in our connection and understanding of each other. It seems to have been placed in a canine DNA that spontaneously looks up to its Master. I, as well as my Master, am the ultimate source to whom my little friend looks when in need of provisions.  In turn, I have developed a Keen desire to commune on the highest level with my best friend–in this instance, I need to get down to her level, literally! In itself, this is no profound thought, though. The Chihuahua breed, by design, is built low to terra firma to fulfill some grand scheme in the master builder’s profundity. I like to think that the Master, in his all-knowing reasoning, designed it just so to draw me to eye level with my companion.  I could go further and bring forth an analogy of humanity’s Master, desiring to commune more fully with his creation on a personal level, humbled himself, lowered himself to their eye-level, and took the personification of a man in the person of Jesus the Christ.

Proverbs 18:24 KJV ”…there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

As a self-proclaimed bachelor, I make this statement with confidence, hoping to preserve my reputation: When relationships thrive in a harmonious environment, a deep connection forms. This connection weaves together the essential elements that create a mindset rich in prosperity and abundance.

My profound conclusion is uniquely articulated as follows: It seems that man, in his role as the master, is intricately fashioned and purposefully molded in harmony with the essence of his domesticated counterparts. This relationship fosters an innate, almost instinctual inclination for these creatures to offer their willing submission to their common Masters, thereby nurturing a deeper and more meaningful communion between them. Therefore, this bond echoes our relationship with God, our creator and sustainer, as we look upward, yearning for His love, guidance, and everlasting care.
