There’s a beautiful perspective to be gained from embodying determination and resilience, which can transform your journey toward personal growth. Facing challenges takes strength, and the commitment to progress through them is admirable.
I want to share the uplifting narrative of my journey filled with optimism. Throughout this path, discovering a deep sense of determination and inner resilience has proven essential in overcoming the formidable challenges that life has thrown my way. Amidst the struggles, my unwavering faith in God has served as a guiding beacon, illuminating my pursuit of personal growth and transformation. Each step has shaped me, and I’ve learned to embrace the journey with a hopeful heart.
Graduation day at the Doris Miller VAMC in Waco, Texas, felt like a significant milestone, reminiscent of basic training. As I grow older, I’ve become more goal-oriented, motivated by my awareness of past struggles. My aim is to rewrite my story, and I hope my reflections help clear my conscience.
My journey began with a single, courageous step, leading me to graduate from a transformative program designed to empower veterans with disabilities to embrace new possibilities. Throughout this path, I discovered that barriers can be dismantled with determination and hard work. Each visit I made unveiled a treasure trove of new aspirations and opportunities—the coveted ‘brass ring’ that beckoned me forward. I felt a deep sense of pride in my resilience, a quality that was recognized by Chris Bosley from the Waco VAMC BRU. He thoughtfully selected a personalized quote for me, encapsulating my experiences and growth, which I hold dear and a constant reminder of my journey and the potential ahead.
William Barclay said,““Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory”” This reminds us that endurance involves transforming our difficulties into something meaningful.
I hope my testimony inspires others facing challenges to find their own paths forward. Thank you for reading my story; knowing my words resonate with others means a lot.
Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing but to turn it into glory.

Veterans Guide is an advocacy center dedicated to assisting veterans with a variety of issues they may encounter. Our mission includes helping veterans obtain proper disability compensation, access financial assistance, and gather information about the GI Bill, among other resources. We have created a range of helpful guides and will continue to add more over time. Recently, we developed a calculator to help veterans determine their appropriate VA ratings, especially when it comes to combining ratings and navigating complex VA calculations.
