As a modern-day drover from Newton, Kansas, I have “gone up (and down) the trail” numerous times. However, the route I take is considerably more convenient and decidedly less wearing to a saddle-sore body to traverse today as it was in 1871. Modern-day I-35 roughly parallels the course of the fabled Chisholm Trail from Waco, Texas, to Newton. I have created a slideshow of some photographic highlights from my journeys over the years.
