Many of our readers will be pleased to know the fifty-second number of the WESTERN FARMERS ALMANAC is out promptly for 1879.

— The weather is the chief topic of the day; this is the fourth cold day in succession. Our stockmen say it is the right kind of weather for stock to fatten.
—A note picked up in front of the post office reads, “come over, George, our folks have got the stove up in the parlor, and we have got a new sofa.” —Drs. Seaman and Nowel have bought the stock of drugs from I. V. Davis; they intend to run a first-class drug store.
— I. V. Davis has given up medicine and turned his attention to the pork business; he intends to pack a large number Of hogs; he has erected a large, commodious packing house in this place.
—Mr. C. E. Blatchley and Cope hunted twenty hours out of three days last week, and shot 135 chickens, for which Stark Spencer gave them $1.75 per day.
— Mr. Martin of I’ll., has bought a smith shop in this place, and he is prepared to do all of the work that may come to the shop.
— Stark Spencer bought 100 head of hogs last week, not withstanding” Num Skull” says that Stark doesn’t want to ship any more hogs.
— Corn is worth on our street today.16 Cts., hogs $1.05.
— Mr. Bickness has the basement story of his house completed; about two weeks since he received his first invoice of beer, which consisted of two kegs, and was sold out at a fair loss.
— We are afraid that this cold snap will prevent ”Num Skull” from making his regular trip to Reno.
— Our Literary is running at full blast.
